Hi all, I trust you are all well my dears?
Today I'm going to be looking at 1940's fashion. My sister and I are getting together a little group of friends to go to a very exciting event! On 5th May in Shoreditch London is The Blitz Party. It's an evening of 1940's fun, fashion, music and cocktails.
The dress code is strict 40's gear civvie or uniform. They have live swing bands, singer and dancers. And you can have a 40's cocktail to drink to boot.
I cant wait for this fab event, if you fancy popping along then take a look at the photos below for some outfit ideas.
If you are looking for a 40's style outfit a good place to start is with a tea dress of bellow the knee skirt suit or a straight skirt with a nice little blouse with a cardigan.
Also another option is to hire a WWII uniform and go for that option.
When we've been to this amazing event I will of course post the pictures.
Here is the link to the Blitz Party website. If you manage to go I'd love to see youre photos! You can upload them to my facebook page www.facebook.com/vintagedoris

ReplyDeleteWell your Great-Grandfather was a fireman, stationed at Shoreditch, throughout the period of the Blitz! He had a pretty dreadful time of it by all accounts. Hope the pair of you have a lovely evening but do spare a passing thought for Grandad!
ReplyDeleteOh me, oh my, how I wish I lived in the UK sometimes, especially when I hear about stellar vintage themed events like this. We (especially in smaller towns and cities) have almost nothing of this nature over here in Canada. If I could, I would pop across the pond just for this awesome sounding Blitz event.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a gorgeous weekend,
Jessica
Jessica hi,
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you organise you're own vintage themed event in your neighbourhood? You never know you might start a trend!!
